1. Choose a clean, flat spot. Lay the chair out on a towel or smooth sand, away from sharp objects, hot surfaces, and abrasive concrete. Check the fabric for any visible damage before inflating.
2. Open the valve fully. HIGHER chairs use a double-lock Boston valve: unscrew the outer cap, then open the inner plug so air flows freely in one direction. A fully opened valve lets you inflate faster and prevents air loss during the process.
3. Inflate with a pump, not your mouth. Use the included manual double-action air pump — it inflates on both the push and pull stroke, which cuts effort roughly in half. For frequent use, upgrade to an electric double-action pump for hands-free inflation.
4. Inflate to firm, not rock-hard. Fill each chamber until the surface feels taut and holds its shape when pressed. Over-inflation stresses the seams; under-inflation makes the chair unstable on soft sand. Stop while the fabric still has slight give.
5. Close the valve and seat the seams. Push the inner plug firmly into place, then screw the cap down tight. Gently press the chair to distribute air, and top up any chamber that feels soft.
6. Let it settle, then re-check. Air pressure changes as the chair warms in the sun. After 10–15 minutes, re-check firmness and add a few strokes if needed — never leave the chair in direct summer sun fully inflated for hours, and keep it in the shade when not in use.
7. Deflate and store properly. Open the valve and roll the chair from the backrest toward the valve to push air out. Fold it loosely into its carry bag and store away from sharp items. Keep the repair patch kit on hand — small punctures are fixed in minutes with the included patches.
